Opal: The Birthstone for Scorpio AstrologyOpal is the stone of the mystic, shaman, artist, and healer in all of us. Opals in the blue-violet-turquoise color range work with the throat chakra and the third eye. The Boulder Opal is primarily found in Queensland, Australia, which is the most important Opal country in the world. This precious, colorful, opalescent stone is found layered in cracks and crevices in ironstone and sandstone boulders. The Boulder Opal forms on a backing of ironstone, which gives it strength. It is famous worldwide for its vibrant colors, stability, strength, and uniqueness. In Opal Matrix the ironstone or sandstone might show at the surface and create very unusual designs and structures mixed in with the colors. Lightning Ridge Opal The town of Lightning Ridge in New South Wales, Australia, yields some of the most striking Opals in the world, famous for their exceptional color and brilliance. These are Black and Crystal Opals that occur in a beautiful deep blue and other color combinations. The name "Lightning Ridge" gives these stones a clear edge in quality and price over other origins. The most desirable and expensive Opals are those with the strongest, most sparkling colors and the most interesting color formations and combinations. Lightning Ridge is the seal of quality in the world of Opals.
