Fire Opal gets its name from its orange color. It can be milky or, in the best quality stones, clear and transparent. A very good quality stone exhibits a high degree of greenish-red opalescence. The most important deposits are in Mexico. Opal matrix stones are usually the most colorful and interesting looking stones. I love to use Fire Opals in all kind of jewelry, but my favorite kind is a Fire Opal Ring, because I can enjoy the beauty of the stone by looking at it all the time!
