Tanzanite is a very unique blue-violet colored stone. This stone has only been available on the market for the past thirty years and is mainly found in Tanzania. In artificial light this stone's color may look more violet than in daylight. It may resemble Blue Sapphire or Amethyst but Tanzanite is an individual in its own right. It has a Mohs' hardness of 6 ½ to 7, a little less hard than Amethyst. Tanzanite is clear yet soft in appearance. I especially like to create a Tanzanite and Diamond Ring, which is a stunning combination.
